How to Get Rid of an Old Grill in Ocala (and What to Do With the Propane Tank)

June 22, 2026 · 4 min read · Bingo Pickup

An old grill is mostly heavy steel and cast iron — recyclable, but too bulky for the curb. The one catch with a gas grill is the propane tank, and that's the part most people get wrong. Here's how to do it safely in the Ocala area.

Deal with the propane tank first

This is important: we can't haul propane tanks, and neither can the landfill — a pressurized fuel cylinder is hazardous and is on our list of items we're not allowed to take. Remove the tank from the grill before pickup and handle it separately:

  • Still has propane / still good? Swap it at a tank-exchange cage (many gas stations and hardware stores) or get it refilled.
  • Old, rusty, or expired? Take it to a Marion County household hazardous waste drop-off — see the official Marion County Solid Waste page for locations.
  • Never put a propane tank in the trash or in a junk pile for pickup.

The grill itself

Once the tank is off, the grill is just metal. For a charcoal grill, make sure any ashes are completely cold first. Then set the grill outside and we'll haul it — the steel goes to scrap recycling where practical instead of the landfill.

How Bingo hauls it

Tank removed, grill outside — book online, send a photo, and we quote it up front. Single items start at $79, charged only after it's gone. Clearing out more of the patio or garage while you're at it? See the pricing for bundled and truckload rates, and what we can't accept on our services page.
