Most of what we haul in Crystal River comes off the water. Citrus County says plainly that it does not provide residential garbage pickup, so outside the city limits - Ozello and the stretches along Ozello Trail, the outer end of Fort Island Trail - you are on a private hauler or you are driving it yourself to the county landfill on SR-44 in Lecanto, which is closed Sunday and keeps shorter hours Saturday. Some bulky-item disposal is covered for county residents, with fees past that, so check the county's current fee schedule before you load a trailer. If you are inside city limits, see what your regular collection already covers first. We are for the loads that are too big or too soon for either one.

We sort out what we can donate or recycle. Scrap metal and appliances have somewhere to go, and furniture in decent shape usually does too. A lot of what comes off the water out here does not: upholstery that took on water, mildewed particle board, mixed loads that are half yard debris. That goes to the county landfill in Lecanto. We are not going to tell you it all gets recycled.
