10 Things Junk Removal Companies Won't Take (And What to Do Instead)
May 6, 2026 · 4 min read · Bingo Pickup
Junk removal services can haul almost anything — furniture, appliances, electronics, whole garage piles. But "almost" matters. These ten categories are off the truck for legal and safety reasons, in Ocala, Gainesville, and everywhere else.
The no-haul list
- Wet paint and stains — dry out latex paint (kitty litter works) and it can go in regular trash; liquid paint goes to household hazardous waste (HHW) collection.
- Chemicals and pesticides — HHW collection, in original containers when possible.
- Gasoline, oil, and fuel — many auto parts stores take used oil; fuel goes to HHW.
- Propane tanks — exchange programs or HHW; never in the trash, never in our truck.
- Asbestos materials — requires licensed abatement handling.
- Medical and biohazard waste — pharmacies and sheriff's offices often run take-back programs for medications; sharps need approved containers.
- Car batteries — auto parts retailers usually take them, often with a credit.
- Ammunition and explosives — contact your local sheriff's office, don't transport them.
- Tires in bulk — small quantities have county options; large quantities need a tire processor.
- Anything illegal or unsafe to transport — if it feels sketchy, it is.
Where this stuff actually goes
Both Marion County and Alachua County operate household hazardous waste programs that accept most of the list above from residents, free or cheap. Check your county's solid waste page for locations and hours before loading the car.
Everything else? That we take.
Furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, cardboard, yard furniture, mixed junk piles, garage and storage contents — if it's not on the list above and it's staged outside, it's gone. Not sure about an item? Include it in your booking photos and we'll confirm before any charge — your card is only captured after the pickup is completed. Book online or browse all services.
