It's 300–900 pounds of fiberglass, foam, wood, and plumbing that won't fit in any bin, can't go out for bulk collection, and usually has to be cut apart just to move it. Here's how to get that old spa off your patio without throwing out your back.
Why hot tubs are so hard to remove
- Weight — even drained, the shell, cabinet, and insulating foam are brutally heavy and awkward.
- It's plumbed and wired — pumps, heaters, and a 240V connection have to be safely disconnected before it can come out.
- It won't fit through gates — most spas have to be cut into sections to get out of a screened lanai or fenced yard.
- Nobody takes them whole — landfills and bulk programs won't accept an intact hot tub.
Your options
- Sell or give it away — only realistic if it still runs. A dead spa has no buyers.
- DIY breakdown — doable with a reciprocating saw, a strong helper, and a free weekend. Disconnect the power at the breaker first (hire an electrician or handyman for the disconnect if you're not sure), drain it, then cut the shell and cabinet into manageable sections.
- Junk removal — once the spa is drained, disconnected, and cut apart — by you or a contractor — we haul away every piece. We don't cut or disconnect it ourselves, but we take the haul-off off your plate: no dump runs, no leftover pile in the yard.

Hot tub removal is haul-away only, so the spa needs to be drained, disconnected from power, and cut into movable sections before we arrive — handle that yourself or have a contractor, handyman, or electrician do it. Because every spa is a different size and access situation, it's photo-quoted rather than instant-priced. Snap a few shots — the broken-down pieces, the gate or lanai they have to come through, and the path to the street — and submit them through the booking form. We'll send a firm price, usually within a few business hours.
